3. 解析:选A。 故选A。
4. 解析:选C。从下文“...into my hat”可知,应是帽子。故选C。

14. 解析:选A。 故选A。

Japanese high school students either walk or ride bicycles if the distance is not too great. In other cases, students must take public buses and trains. After junior high school, students attend schools based on their high school entrance examination scores. So some students travel a great distance to attend the school.
◆The school day begins at 8:30.
Then students assemble in their homeroom classes for the day’s studies. Each homeroom has an average of 40—45 students. Students stay in their homeroom classrooms for most of the school days. Only for physical education, laboratory classes, or other subjects requiring special facilities(设备) do students move to different parts of the school. Between classes and at lunch-time, classrooms can be noisy, lively places. Some schools may have a cafeteria(自助餐厅), but most do not. In most schools, students bring a box lunch from home, prepared by the mother in the early morning hours.
Japanese students spend 240 days a year at school, 60 days more than American students. Students in high schools take three years’ each of the following subjects: mathematics, social studies, Japanese, science, and English. Other subjects include physical education, music, art, and moral(道德的) studies. All the students in one grade level study the same subjects. Given the number of required subjects, selectives (选修科目) are few.
◆After-school Activities
Club activities take place after school every day. Students can join only one club, and they rarely change clubs from year to year, so the clubs are relatively stable. Clubs are made up of sports clubs (baseball, soccer, judo, kendo, etc.) and culture clubs(English, broadcasting, science, etc.). New students usually are encouraged to select a club shortly after the school year begins in April. Clubs meet for two hours after school each day and many clubs continue to meet during school vacations.

Wugging, or web use giving, describes the act of giving to charity at no cost to the user. By using Everyclick.com, which is being added to a number of university computers across the UK, students can raise money every time they search, but it won’t cost them a penny.
Research shows that students are extremely passionate about supporting charity — 88% of full time students have used the Internet to give to charity. This age group is often the least likely to have their own income. 19% of 22 to 24-year-olds have short-term debts of more than £5,000. With rising personal debt levels in this age group, due to university tuition fees or personal loans and a lack of long-term savings, traditional methods of donating to charity are often not appealing (有感染力的) or possible.
Beth Truman, a 21-year-old recent university graduate, has used Everyclick.com to donate to her chosen charity, the RSPCA, for two years and has seen the “wugging” movement grow in popularity with students. “When you’re at university you become more socially aware, but it’s sometimes hard to give to others when you have little money yourself,” says Beth. “Wugging is great for people in this age group as it allows them to use the technology on a daily basis to give to charity, without costing them a single penny.”
Wugging is perfect for people who want to be more socially aware and supportive but don’t feel they have the means to do so. Students using the web can raise money for causes they care about without costing them anything in terms of time or money, and charities get a valuable source of funding.
Everyclick.com works like any other search engine, allowing users to search for information, news and images but users can decide which of the UK’s 170,000 charities they would like to support through their clicks. Everyclick.com then makes monthly payments to every registered charity. Launched in June 2005, Everyclick.com is now the eighth largest search engine and one of the busiest charity websites in the UK.
6. According to the passage, “wugging” is actually        .

D. a student movement
7. In the case of charity, Everyclick.com        .
A. frees students of the financial worries
B. receives much money from students
C. offers valuable information to students
D. praises students for their money-raising
8. What does Beth Truman think of the “wugging” movement?
A. It makes Everyclick.com popular in the UK.
B. It becomes easy to do charity because of it.
C. It results in students’ more social awareness.
D. It helps students to save money.
9. From the passage, we can conclude that        .
A. most full time students do charity on the Internet every day

Ⅴ. 1. 解析:选A。
admit的主要用法有 admit doing sth.; admit that ...
have/get a ...impression of sb./sth. 有……印象”;sb. be impressed with/by/at ...
hate to do 与hate doing两种用法都可以,但表示一贯的讨厌要用hate doing。
7. 解析:选A。
prefer to do ...rather than do意为“宁可……,也不……”。
A项如改为“so does China”也正确;B项意为“中国确实如此”,不符合句意;正确的表达为D项。
Ⅵ.1. 根据第二段中的“In most schools, students bring a box lunch from home ...”
2. 解析:选A。 根据第三段中的“Japanese students spend 240 days a year at school, 60 days more than American students”可知,美国中学生一年上学的天数为180天。
根据后半句“...so the clubs are relatively stable”可知,rarely意为“很少”,与C项(不常,很少)意思一致。
根据原文第二段可知,日本中学每个班通常有40至45名学生,故A项错误;根据原文第二段中的“Only for physical education, ...do students move to different parts of the school”可知,学生体育课是不在教室上的,故B项错误;根据文章最后一句可知,很多学校的俱乐部在假期期间正常活动,故D项错误;根据文中第三段最后一句“Given the number of required subjects, selectives are few”可知,C项正确。
5. 解析:选A。
7. 解析:选A。
8. 解析:选B。从第三段中的“...it allows them to use the technology on a daily basis to give to charity”可知,B项正确。

train sb. to do sth.
5. 解析: 选B。考查Would you mind if句型的用法。Would you mind if句型后面接虚拟语气。

由第一段“Find Your Child is a locator service which is designed to locate(定位) the phone of your child”可推知答案。
由最后一段“This leaves a balance of £3.50 which is enough to make up to 7 searches”可知,每次寻找需要0.5英镑,所以4次寻找需要2英镑。

Imagine youre at a party full of strangers. You’re nervous. Who are these people? How do you start a conversation? Fortunately, you’ve got a thing that sends out energy at tiny chips in everyones name tag (标签). The chips send back name, job, hobbies, and the time available for meetingwhatever. Making new friends becomes simple.
This hasn’t quite happened in real life. But the world is already experiencing a revolution using RFID technology.
An RFID tag with a tiny chip can be fixed in a product, under your pet’s skin, even under your own skin. Passive RFID tags have no energy source batteries because they do not need it. The energy comes from the reader, a scanning device, that sends out energy (for example, radio waves) that starts up the tag immediately.
Such a tag carries information specific to that object, and the data can be updated. Already, RFID technology is used for recognizing each car or truck on the road and it might appear in your passport. Doctors can put a tiny chip under the skin that will help locate and obtain a patient’s medical records. At a nightclub in Paris or in New York the same chip gets you into the VIP (very important person) section and pays for the bill with the wave of an arm.
Take a step back:10 or 12 years ago, you would have heard about the coming age of computing. One example always seemed to surface: Your refrigerator would know when you needed to buy more milk. The concept was that computer chips could be put everywhere and send information in a smart network that would make ordinary life simpler.
RFID tags are a small part of this phenomenon. “The world is going to be a loosely coupled set of individual small devices, connected wirelessly,” predicts Dr.J.Reich. Human right supporters are nervous about the possibilities of such technology. It goes too far tracking school kids through RFID tags, they say. We imagine a world in which a beer company could find out not only when you bought a beer but also when you drank it. And how many beers. Accompanied by how many biscuits.
